Christmas is approaching. If you want to set the mood with the season,
I highly recommend this record. A Christmas Cornucopia is the first Christmas album by the legendary vocalist Annie Lennox. Excellent choice of songs for seasons holiday and a beautiful collection of enjoyable Christmas chants. The sound quality is excellent. The singer manages to transform these classic songs into memorable modern pieces like The First Noel or Angels From the Realms of Glory (Les Anges dans nos campagnes). The arrangements are textured like As Joseph Was a Walking or The Holly and The Ivy with a choir. I like the acoustic guitar of In the Bleak Midwinter. The Christmas Carol track is really beautiful.
You do not feel the commercial side. It is just honest, right , and finally just Annie Lennox. A brilliant song choices that reveals her authenticity. Her interpretation is inspired and phenomenal. Admire her in As Joseph Was A Walking.
You are hooked on her magnificent impeccable voice like in God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, an English traditional Christmas carol that features flute. Anyway, she is incredible in the rest of the album.
It is festive. It brings us back all the sweet memories of our past Christmas. Who would remain unaffected by the masterly interpretation of Annie in See, Amid The Winter’s Snow known as “Hymn For Christmas Day” written by Edward Caswall ?
Annie sings with devotion and her heart. You can really feel it. If you have not the smile when you listen to her, you are like Ebenezer Scrooge !! Who will have not the little tear in Lullay Lullay (Coventry Carol) or in Silent Night (Douce Nuit) featuring a choir ?
For us, French, this is a real happiness to hear sing Il Est Né le Divin Enfant by a great vocalist in a perfect french. I really appreciate modern arrangements.
