Artist Spotlight : Monte Pittman with Pain, Love and Destiny

Multi faceted Artist, rock musician, guitarist and songwriter, Monte Pittman released on October 3rd his second album Pain, Love &Destiny.

If you don’t know him, he has also been the live guitarist and a co-writer of Madonna’s since 2001, the live guitarist and music director for Adam Lambert, and former member of Prong.

Brilliant blend of 1970‘s Southern California sounds and  80s and 90s alternative rock, Pain, Love & Destiny follow-up to  his debut album, The Deepest Dark, an acoustic album (out in 2009) , is the excellence in modern rock music nowadays.

Talented artist,  Monte Pittman  is clearly a magician on guitar especially in (I am) The Black Rabbit (inspired by the novel Watership Down) as well a phenomenal music songwriter. Find beauty in darkness and the pact with the devil are two of predominant themes beautifully transcribed by a subtle mix of catchy acoustic and electric guitar work, well-arranged synths and piano (featuring Kelle Rhoads – Randy’s brother). From the opener track About You to closer sweet ballad Predetermined Destiny,  he holds listeners spellbound with this perfect harmony between his words and his haunting melodies. My favorite are without a doubt, Close your eyes and Keep Shining for its upbeat riffs and guitar solo.

Predetermined Destiny, a beautiful Beatles ballad  is a great end to the album.

If this CD is not part of your music library, you miss something. It is a must-have.

If you love Alice In Chains, Pink Floyd , Foo Fighters and The Beatles, imagine them together on a record and you gonna love Monte Pittman. It is an album you listen and you never get tired of.

Also recommended for music lovers. Catch him live in Houston at House of Blues Thursday, December 1st 2011. Grab your ticket here.

  • Heard Pain, Love and Destiny at Monte’s listening party and knew then that this was a great well written album. Monte is not only a first rate guitarist but fabulous lyricist and composer as well. Go buy it.. you’ll love it too!

  • I LOVE this album so much! A rock album that can be played over and over again…

  • This album rocks!

Classic rock guitar shreds, strong vocals and just great songs make this an album to listen to over and over. You can really tell alot of heart and soul was put into this album and is one of the reasons I enjoy indie music.

Not being on a corporate label, Monte really seems to stretch his legs on many of his songs. Particular favorites change all the time, but I really like Burn Down the Garden and Close Your Eyes.

    Keep rockin’..!

  • ‘Pain, Love & Destiny’ is a great album from start to finish. It takes you on a journey through life accompanied by a unique sound, crazy guitar riffs and catchy melodies. My favs, ‘About You’, ‘Lost’ and ‘(I am) The Black Rabbit’ and ‘Predetermined Destiny’.

  • I agree with Sylvie Lesas, this is a strong, solid rock album! I too was looking forward to this album and it has truly exceeded my expectations! I know this will be one of my fav albums of all time. Monte’s voice is very clear and there is good balance between the instruments and vocals. I especially like the quiet acoustic moments that add extra drama to the heavy guitar riffs when they appear. (I Am) The Black Rabbit, Lost, Close Your Eyes are phenomenal. Right Back Here Again and Predetermined Destiny tug at my heart. Great album!!

  • I love this album! I’m kinda old school, but I still appreciate a good ALBUM. The kind that tells a story and doesn’t keep you pushing the skip button. That’s what Pain, Love & Destiny is. All the songs are consistently good, and it has a great flow from beginning to end.

It’s hard to pick favorites, but (I Am) The Black Rabbit would definitely be on my list, along with Lost. Other favorites are Fortune, Somewhere In The Middle, and Stay With Me. I wasn’t kidding when I said all the songs are good.

Anyway, if you’re sick of all the pop crap on the top40 stations, Definitely pick up this album and check it out! Great indie rock with enough awesome guitar work to satify any rock lover. I’m a sucker for a great guitar solo. :)

Looking forward to the upcoming Texas shows!! Can’t wait to hear it LIVE!

  • I was looking forward to this album, but have to say I was disappointed, It’s OK but it’s nothing special, Monte’s singing voice lets it down. Get track previews before you buy it to check is is your kind of music. Great album artwork though.
