Jack Garratt recently released his debut album Phase. A combination of sonic experiments , enjoyable and intelligently crafted. It is a work of modern art, unexpected and fun. The album showcases a modern sounding with musical substance. The songs are packed with melodies, both creative and infectious.
Breathe Life and Far Cry are these kind of summer jams, radio-friendly singles, to dance through the night. Blending together , the grooves of funk, pop electro and EDM beats, Phase also has some worthy ballads such as the piano song, Worry and the dark tune, I know All That I do .The Love You’ve Given sounds intimate. With this haunting voice echoing in the background, the track is strangely addictive, dazzling, confusing , emotionally charged . Surprising Yourself is fresh urban, and evocative. The song intertwines dubstep flavour, soul falsetto vocals with futurist electro pop twists. Fire is without a doubt, one of the most inventive songs on the album.
All in all, Jack Garratt is the new promising prince of electronic music, worthy to follow. In other news, he will hit the road this spring on his first ever headlining North American tour in support of Phase. The tour kicks off February 26 in Cambridge (MA) and ends March 11 in Los Angeles (CA).
