Mike Patton The Solitude of Prime Numbers Album Review

Mike PattonMike Patton
releases today his new personal project, a soundtrack album from the film, The Solitude of Prime Numbers (2010) based on the Paolo Giordano novel of the same name out in 2008. It tells the story of Mattia and Alice who “are like twin primes: both lonely but close to each other, separated by an even number.”.

Moved by the story, multi-faceted artist Mike Patton (Fantômas, Mondo Cane, Tomahawk, Faith No More, Mr Bungle …) brilliantly captured the plot and the feel of the novel in a successful 16-track record. He offers his vision of the story in an impeccable minimalist orchestration, haunting and accessible to all.

This film’s score is in a word, perfection, a very unique musical listening experience that is rare today.. so haunting that you simply cannot stop listening it. You enjoy every second. Just sublime. There is a strong cinematic feel that works wonderfully. It features beautifully atmospheric horror pieces of orchestral instruments as violin and piano, both intense (Weight of Consequences) and pure beauty (Identity Matrix). It is subtle and captivating at the same time. It’s definitely more than enough to make you want to check out the book.  It also contains a magical vibe that awakens our senses and easily transports us into the universe of the story since the first listen.

In conclusion, this is a must-have CD and, a worth buying for everyone.
