Mother Falcon Announce Debut Album!

Last modified: September 2, 2012

The digital release date for Alhambra, the highly-anticipated debut album from orchestral pop ensemble Mother Falcon has officially been set for February 21st.  The 12 song record, which has won them a cult-like following already in their native Austin, will be released via Rampant Arts, and is sure to bring the  band to a larger national audience.

Mother Falcon are a refreshingly original act equally at home in a 1920s speakeasy as in a modern day arena.  They recently released their single “Pennies” as a free download on their Facebook page.  The track combines whirling horns with an anthemic soundscape to create something inherently unique, and serves as a perfect introduction to the band’s upcoming full- length album.

In addition to “Pennies”, Mother Falcon also released the video for their Surfjan Stevens meets early Arcade Fire single “Alligator Teeth” and are currently working on the score to the indie documentary Star Nation.  In just two years, the 18-piece collective has quickly grown into an award-winning, top drawing act in their native Austin.  They have become known as a band that makes full use out of the large size of their line-up, which includes several multi-instrumentalists and vocal contributions from the majority of it’s members.

You can check out a series of teasers for Alhambra here, as well as an extended version of the “Alligator Teeth” video.  Stay tuned for many more  announcements as we approach the release of Alhambra!
