Queens Of The Stone Age … Like Clockwork Album Review

Queens of the Stone Age Queens Of the Stone Age ‘s sixth studio album ... Like Clockwork is out now on Matador Records. Produced by Josh Homme and QOTSA, it is the band’s first release since 2007’s Era Vulgaris.

Even if the recording process was tough for them, Queens of the Stone Age managed to create a grandiose record living up to its ambition. Between dark and poetic lyrics, the journey results in a glorious and honest content because the album  is one of the most inspired ever made and without a doubt their best work to date. The outcome is epic.  After all, it isn’t in the chaos that we get the best out of ourselves. Like Clockwork is the perfect example.

The collection of heavy and midtempo songs is a pure masterpiece dedicated to becoming a classic. The opening track Keep Your Eyes Peeled which is a blend of heavy and bluesy tune,  gives the tone for the rest of the album. Queens of The Stone Age delivers a hot combination of sexy guitar lines and alternative rock ranging from grunge  to psychedelic, along a brilliant drum playing complemented with haunting vocals. They fuse their renowned trademark with a swirling fury of funky vibes to get a new terrific sound that destroys everything on its path. Take a look on Smooth Sailing or I Appear Missing.

They also enrolled for this album, a bunch of cool friends including Sir Elton John, Dave Grohl, Artic Monkey’s Alex Turner, Trent Reznor , Scissor Sisters’s Jake Shears, Mark Lanegan, former QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri, James Lavelle.

Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri bring their personal touch in the gang chorus on the most burning swagger rock tunes If I Had A Tail which is my first favorite on the album. Trent Reznor is on synths and vocals in Kalopsia. Sir Elton John joined the fun on the exiting Fairweather Friends.

All in all, … Intense as hell , … Like Clockwork  is everything what music should be. Grab your copies now on iTunes. Highly recommended for music lovers and fans.

On another note, Queens Of The Stone Age will perform at Itunes Festival at London’s Roundhouse on September 6.
